As of April 2026, a new, full-time Hockey Director is in place; A role central to the future success of our program, designed to unify and elevate Newark Ice Hockey by:

• Leading intentional practice planning and skills/system development
• Expanding off‑ice training, camps, and specialized instruction
• Blending age groups into one cohesive hockey family
• Creating a positive hockey experience our players will carry for a lifetime

Julian Giantonio, NIHA’s new full-time Hockey Director and Varsity Head Coach, with over 20 years of combined experience:

• coaching at the NCAA Division I and III levels
• playing at the NCAA DIII and ACHA DI levels
• playing professionally in the Federal Professional Hockey League
• as a certified USA Hockey Coach Developer
• as a proven leader in player & program development
• mentoring student athletes & building winning cultures
• leading multiple programs to playoffs & National Championships

• A 30-year history of competitive success across all levels
• Dedicated local home rink that supports consistency and balance for families (ie, avoid long car rides and benefit from premium ice times)
• Structured practice model with three ice sessions per week, ensuring repetition, development, and coaching continuity
• A dedicated Varsity Locker Room, upgraded in 2025, that fosters identity, accountability, and daily team culture
• Unrivaled atmosphere during Thursday night Varsity games, standing room only!
