Denison Red vs. White Game 8/31

Don't miss this exciting event!

The annual Denison Intersquad Scrimmage is scheduled for 8/31 from 5-6:20 pm. This year, we want to "raise the roof" by involving our kids in welcoming Denison's new and returning players. This is sure to be a fun and memorable event for both NIHA and Denison!

Envision colored lights flashing, music pumping, and announcers hyping the crowd! Denison players will be announced as they enter onto the ice through stick tunnels formed by our Generals. A dozen NIHA players will get to stay on the ice during warmups (6 on each side), and one winner gets to take the face-off! If permitted, 2 kids per side per period will be granted the opportunity to rotate standing behind the bench during the game to cheer on their favorite Denison players! Autographs to follow the game!

Details:

  • Kids should wear their white jerseys, helmet, gloves and bring their stick
  • Registration will be capped at 30 kids. All kids registered will participate in the stick tunnels. The first 12 to register will be designated to partake in the pre-game warm-ups (6 per side), the next 12 will rotate sitting behind the benches each period (2 per side per period or 12 kids total)
  • Name will be drawn immediately following warm-ups for ONE youth player to take the face-off against a Denison player (then they will safely be escorted to the bench)
  • If permitted by Denison, 2 youth players per side per period (4 total each period) allowed to stand behind the bench, wearing their helmets for safety (totaling 12 kids)
  • NIHA Parent volunteers are needed on-site to help organize the kids the day of the event (locker room supervisors, direct them for the stick tunnel formation, coach on ice to manage kids during warm-ups (they must stay behind the players shooting), draw the winner for the face-off, and help rotate kids behind the bench for minimal distraction. Please contact Summer Dougherty asdougherty85@gmail.com if you are interested in volunteering the day of the event!
  • Kids will have access to locker rooms 1 & 2. They should arrive 30-45 minutes before the event starts
  • An area will be designated for autographs following the game. Kids should bring something to be autographed, such as their stick, a puck, or a favorite t-shirt! (General's game jerseys should not be signed. A different favorite jersey is OK!)
  • Parents will be notified before the event whether their child will be designated for joining warmups or the gametime benches.

We are exploring ways to partner with Denison to provide new and enriching experiences for our youth players. By connecting our hockey communities more closely, we hope that meaningful and long-lasting bonds will form between our teams. Stay tuned for what's next with Denison to help strengthen our community!
